A member of the third generation of the founding Loimer family, the life of the talented winemaker Fred Loimer has always been intertwined with wine production, so it was only natural that, in 1986, he took the reins of the family winery in Kamptal.
From the initial seven hectares, the property in Kamptal has grown to include 64 hectares, from which delicious wines from Grüner Veltiner and Riesling vines, the main ones, but also Muskateller, Chardonnay, Pinot Grins, Pinot Blanc and the reds Zweigelt and Pinot Noir.
Curious and constantly seeking new challenges and opportunities, Fred Loimer didn't hesitate when, in 2002, he was presented with the opportunity to rent the Weingut Schellmann traditional farming estate, located in the centre of Gumpoldskirchen, a wine-growing town south of Vienna, synonymous with quality wines ever since the time of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Currently boasting 10 hectares, in addition to Rotgifpler and Zierfandler, two very traditional grape varieties, the Gumpoldskirchen vineyards contain Chardonnay, Traminer and Pinot Noir vines too.
Managing every Loimer vineyard since 2006 according to dynamic organic farming principles, which respect and proactively protect nature, Fred Loimer has graced Austria and the world with natural wines, endowed with a strong character.
