The Mozambican government plans to invest around US$14 million (12 million Euros) to upgrade and build tolls in the country, with a view to raising revenues for road maintenance. The authorities plan to install 26 tolls, of which 18 will be built and eight will be refurbished, as part of ‘Proasme’ (Programme for Self-Sustained Maintenance of Roads). According to the government, the country has 8,000 kilometres of paved road, with 22,000 kilometres yet to be paved and users will be fundamental to reaching the targets.
