Among the historic port wine cellars, you can spy the city’s latest jewel, the Hilton Porto Gaia. The hotel, an investment of over 40 million Euros, came about through a franchising agreement with Sabersal - Promoção Turística e Imobiliária, S.A. and is the second property to boast the Hilton Hotels & Resorts seal in Portugal (the first being Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa, in the Algarve).
The US brand’s new five-star hotel stands in Rua de Serpa Pinto, has eight floors, 194 rooms and suites, and results from the conversion of the old port wine warehouses of the Gran Cruz group, occupying an area of 42,000 square metres.

The facilities include a restaurant, a space for holding events (with an auditorium seating 356), a lobby bar and a bar with a panoramic view of Oporto’s historic centre and the River Douro. The spa, covering a total area of 912 square metres, includes an indoor pool with dynamic water jets, sauna, steam room, four treatment rooms, a gym open to the public, Pilates studio, among other features.
This is one of the chain’s three new investments in Portugal. The others, the brand announced in December last year, are the Legacy Hotel Cascais and the Double Tree by Hilton Lagoa Açores, with openings scheduled for 2023 and 2022, respectively.
