The winners of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th places of the National Journalism Award, that explores the categories of Press, Radio, Television and Photojournalism, are now known. The highlights were announced in a ceremony held at the Aníbal de Melo Press Centre, in Luanda and attended by Mário Oliveira, the Minister of Telecommunication, Information Technology and Media. Anastácio de Brito, the President of the Adjudication Committee and Jury of the National Journalism Award 2022, revealed who this year’s stand-out journalists were.
Dito Tavares, from Rádio Nacional de Angola in Malange; Victória Maviluka, from Novo Jornal; António Soares, photographer from Agência Angola Press; and Isidro Sanhanga, from TPA, are the big winners. 69 journalists participated in this edition, with 18 in the Radio category, 26 in the Press, 18 in Television and seven in Photojournalism. The provinces of Benguela, Bengo, Cabinda, Cuando Cubango, Cuanza Sul and Norte, Huambo, Luanda, Luanda Norte, Huila, Malanje, Moxico, Namibe, Uíge and Zaire were represented. The only province not to be represented was Luanda Sul.
The judges for this edition were Anastácio de Brito, Fernando Tati, Arlindo Macedo, Mariana Ribeiro and Quintiliano dos Santos, who came together in a ceremony honouring Angola’s National Independence month. The award was given to those who showed loyalty to the principle of total transparency, together with ten other criteria, which include journalistic ethics and scientific rigour. The works analysed by the jury came from websites, newspapers, magazines, media bodies and the like, and were published between January 01, 2021 and April 25, 2022.
Institutionalised since 2008, the National Journalism Award aims to recognise merit and promote the quality of work in this field.
