Satextil, a company dedicated to the production of fabrics, has outlined its goals so as to create sustainable fabrics, not only in terms of environmental impact, but also to increase durability and reduce the impact at the end of use. To this end, the Portuguese company presents its latest innovation: fabrics derived from recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET). This involves the composition of fabrics from recycled PET bottles, which allows a reduction to the ecological footprint. Keep in mind that polyethylene terephthalate is the most recycled plastic in the world, with the brand creating the polyester yarn extracted from plastic captured from the sea. The benefits of its use include a reduced dependence on oil as a raw material, a 75% reduction in CO₂ emissions and lower energy consumption. The textile brand’s plan includes the use of yarns that require up to 90% less water and 70% less energy consumption.
With access to sustainable raw materials, Satextil uses natural fibres to produce fabrics that are light and soft, yet resistant. They also feature anti-microbial action, as well as better results in ultraviolet protection. The fabric label itself is ecological, containing fully sustainable and biodegradable fibres.
