São Tomé and Príncipe is one of the African countries involved in the coastal zone capacity building project. With a view to improving the social and environmental impact, the World Bank is funding multiple actions aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change.
Building coastal protection walls, extending breakwaters, draining wetlands and creating rainwater and river drainage networks are some of the works defined in the strategy, reducing the risk of diseases spreading. The project was due to end in 2023, which is why the World Bank opted to renew it.
